2009 Newark Brass Festival

Newark Brass Festival takes place over a weekend in January in Newark, Nottinghamshire. It comprises a solo competition, workshop and concert.

The competition is for ages 11 to 30 and has three sections: Grades 5/6, Grades 7/8, diploma and above. Each section has a prize of £250. The overall championship prize is a concerto date with the Lincoln Symphony Orchestra, a complete set of mutes, kindly donated by festival patron, Denis Wick, and a festival trophy. The judges will be: John Kenny, Steve Wick, Paul Archibald and Nigel Black. Applications to enter the competition must be in by 5 November.

The workshop is for players aged 10 - 14, beginners to Grade 4, and will be taken by the brass ensemble of the Royal College of Music, which will also be performing in concert with the judges and prizewinners.
