TROMBONE SUPPORT WINS O.H.M.I. Trust AWARD

Last weekend (15th March) in Birmingham City University at the One Hand Musical Instrument Trust Conference and award Ceremony, Michael Rath's bespoke design of a trombone bracket and support stand system won an award in the ENABLING EQUIPMENT category.

This trombone support was designed for long time Rath customer, Northern Ireland based Brass Educator and freelance trombonist Willie McLean. Willie had a severe stroke in Oct 2017 which left him with left arm paralysis. Michael Rath’s ingenious design and craftmanship has enabled Willie to play again.

This stainless-steel bracket, designed and manufactured by Michael Rath, clamps easily to the main bell stay of a trombone using two hexagonal head screws. A clearance hole through the centre of the main head of the bracket allows the trombone to slide comfortably over the stand spindle. This is attached to an adapted heavy-duty cymbal stand. This ensures the trombone is at the correct angle for the player. Height and angle are adjustable.
